Once again, it's time to dig into the national archives for another candids post.  This one consists of basketball kicks I've shot taken over the past few years (using my iPhone 4, and now 6).  Since most of these are from random encounters, I don't always have a lot of background.  Hope you enjoy!

This was taken walking through downtown Santa Barbara during the Spring of 2011.  I was trying to get a good shot of those Jodan's worn by a dude in his mid-20's walking his dog.  Those are my Puma Speedcat's in the lower right of the shot.

This guy was a neighbor of mine at an apartment where I live at a few years ago.  He was a military cop and had a country white-boy name like Brett or something similar.  "Brett" seemed like a cool guy gauging from the few times we spoke, however we both worked revolving schedules and only ran into each other once in awhile.  He usually parked his truck near mine on the street and I noticed that he always had athletic gear on the seats:  jerseys, baseball mitts, cleats, football helmets, etc.  This fucker played a lot of sports.  I wanted to get at that some that shit and frequently checked to see if would ever forget to lock his doors, or maybe even put some used shoes/cleats in the bed...never did:(  One day, I saw him out doing laundry and the black leather basketball shoes he was wearing caught my eye.  They looked pretty awesome so I stopped to compliment and then offered to buy them (AND1 Rocket 2.0 patent leather).  He said that they were his beaters and really didn't want to let 'em go.  Again, I offered to pay cash but he still shrugged it off.  Being a neighbor I didn't want to be too pushy and make things awkward.  I thought I'd get another chance to pressure him into selling, however that never came to fruition.  Shortly after, I got back to my place where one of the bedrooms overlooked the laundry shack from the 2nd floor.  I set up my iPhone and waited to get some shots...I took a few photos and a video which turned out well.  He was still wearing those AND1's sockless as you can see.

As a side note and kind of unrelated to this:  When "Brett" first moved in he was single and sort of kept to himself.  Later on, he found some local country girl who he frequently had over on the weekends.  It was fucking awesome to overhear him smash the shit outta her some nights...he'd leave the (front) windows open (due to the way the breeze flowed, or didn't flow, through our courtyard-style building).  My guess is that they didn't realize that they could be heard even though they were in bedroom with the doors closed.  I moved out a few months after he moved in; haven't seen him since.

The shoes:  AND1 Rocket 2.0, patent leather, black

Date:  23 APR 2012

The first few photos are for reference and were taken from an eBay auction of the exact same type of shoes:

For my second post, I'm highlighting a former neighbor:  Ryan.  Three years ago, Ryan moved in below me in a two-story apartment complex where I used to live in my current town.  He was in his late 20's and being a local boy and a ladies man, always had a lot of chicks over to party.  I would make small talk when I saw him around, but we never hung out.  Sometimes he had cousins or buddies live with him and lot of party/420 chicks that stayed the night--basically, one of those neighbors that always have ppl coming and going.  They were always smoking weed and it turns that he was dealing as well.  Eventually, he got raided by the local SWAT team and disappeared for awhile (probably went to jail awaiting arraignment).  During this period, and with the sheer luck that he heft his doors unlocked, I decided to check his truck for any goodies cause I knew that he played sports; especially hoops.  Under the rear seat, I found a pair of low-cut Jordan's:)  At first I just want to wear them for fun, but decided to keep at them as reparations for all the fucking racket and weed-smoke I had to put up with...haha.  They are too small for me to comfortably wear, but a sweet trophy nevertheless.  Between the 4-6 weeks he was gone and bigger problems in his life, he didn't seem to miss them.

Included are some stock photos of what a new pair of these shoes look like.  Also, some from his FB where he's even wearing these in a couple photos.

The shoes:  Nike Jordan Team Elite Low (White).  Size:  10.5.
